HAWAII TRIP AUGUST 2008 POLYNESIAN CULTURE CENTER
Paul and I spent two days at the Culture Center the boys spent one day. Nathan was called out of the audience to try some fresh coconut milk. I enjoy learning about the Polynesian Cultures. Paul and I tried one of their dances. We had a fun time.
I enjoy going on trips with my husband and with my family. I also enjoy taking pictures, hiking, camping, mountain biking and scrapbooking.
On January 14, 2009 I was in a bad Mountain Bike Accident! Read more about my accident, below on my blog at Cindy's Epic Ride January 14th 2009.

EAGLE SCOUT COUT OF HONOR
Nathan had a nice court of honor with Conner Robertson and Jordan Mendenhall. Nathan's Grandparents came from the Hoffman side and the Black side. We also had friends come from West LA area we knew when we lived there. The Hamiltons (Denise, Matthew and Mark), Bud & Diane Howard and Katie Moyle. There were friends from our current ward too, Dave Porter, Jennifer Kneer, the Robertson Family and the Mendenhall Family and Youngmen Leaders (Rich Gerdts, Steve Gold and Marc Johnson). James participated with the scouts in the flag ceremomy.

JAMES' ORDAINED A DEACON March 8th 2009
James was ordained a Deacon March 8th. Grandma & Grandpa Black, and Grandma & Grandpa Hoffman came for the event. James is named after both of his grandpas. We call him by James, which is his middle name and is Grandpa Hoffman's first name. James' first name is Richard and he goes by Ricky at school. Richard is Grandpa Black's first name. As you can tell in the pictures James did not want his picture taken but I wanted him to. So we have a picture record of the improtant date.

BICYCLE ACCIDENT UPDATE January 23rd 2009
Dear family & friends:
Cindy's mother arrived here last night to take care of Cindy and to help out the family while she recovers. Cindy's abrasions have healed remarkably fast. I think the Priesthood blessing really helped as well as the fact that Cindy is in good physical conditioning and has been taking supplements for a long time. Although she looks alot better, I remain concerned about her back. I try to tell her to lie down, but she is always finding a reason to get up (with the brace on of course). She is going in for x-rays early next week and we will know more on Jan. 30, after we visit with the doctor. Please keep up your prayers for her.
I found this short essay in James' school notebook today. I just have to pass this one along--it is too good and says so much, coming from an 11-year old:
"HEROS"
"My hero is my Mom. She did so much for me until the accident. She would wake me up so I could go to school. She made diiner for us and helped me with my homework after school, and let me do things. She made home awesome for everybody who lives there. She really motivated me to have all my homework done. Then the accident happened. Everyone cried (except Nathan, my brother), Me for about an hour. She loves me and she's my mom, that right now is all I need from her. I know she loves me, and I hope she gets better soon. In fact, I think all mom's are heroes! They do almost all the housework and help you do alot of things. The things you have, you can lose them in an instant! I almost learned that with my mom. Your mom was pobably under-appreciated too! Sometimes your mom will do alot of your work too. Sure, Its nice, but nobody says thank you! Anyways, my mom loves my whole family (I've already established that) and that's why she does the work for me and my family. It's ture. Thank you Mom ..."
I could not resist sharing this one. It made tears come to my eyes. What wise observation can come from the pen of an 11-year old.
